My loves, my life, and my breath now
I went to go see Cigarettes After Sex with my lover at the time and was compelled to make a white dress to the concert — a white maxi thing, to the floor. I wanted him to see me in a white dress. Something in me spoke. And I began to sew on leather letters which would spell out my name. I sewed in the car on the way to the MODA with needles I bought from the public market.
We broke up and an acquaintance painted letterwork onto it later
Thus began the brides
meant to love, grieve, and subvert
With any Figure, Named Form, Phenomenon, or Myth,
there is fantasy, and where there is fantasy, there is ugliness.
Raw, cutting, silver truth
